This exclusive office building, Sáenz de Oiza’s masterpiece of 20th century Spanish architecture, is located right at the heart of Azca. It stands 100 metres tall and has 28 floors providing standard office space of 1,338 m².
After ambitious renovation work, Castellana 81 is now positioned at the cutting edge of sustainability, accessibility and technology. The building has been awarded Platinum LEED certification in the Core & Shell category, making it the first and only office building on the Paseo de la Castellana to achieve this top level of certification. In addition, Castellana 81 boasts the top 5-star DIGA rating (Level of Accessibility Hallmark) for a singular building built before 2010. This makes it the first singular office building in Spain to hold the highest level of DIGA certification for disabled persons, senior citizens and pregnant women. In November 2017, it was awarded the 2017 DIGA Accessibility Award by the Shangri-La Foundation.
In May 2018, Castellana 81 obtained the Gold WELL certification in the Core & Shell category, becoming the first WELL office building in Spain and the fifth Gold WELL Core & Shell building in Europe.This innovative system certifies that the design, construction and operations of the building address and have a positive influence on the health and well-being of people. It evaluates in situ the impacts of the building regarding seven concepts: air, water, light, fitness, comfort, nourishment and mind.
Castellana 81 have a full service floor including an auditorium accommodating 188 persons and equipped with the latest technology, an events area, a meeting centre comprising seven rooms, physiotherapy facilities, gymnasium, showers and changing rooms.
In April 2018, Castellana 81 won the accolade of Best Renovation 2017 in the Spanish Office Association (AEO) awards.
In September 2019, Castellana 81 received the award "The Architecture MasterPrize” in the category ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN - Restoration & Renovation. In May 2018, the building Castellana 81 won the title of Best Non-Residential Property Intervention in the ASPRIMA-SIMA prizes. In October of this year it also received the Madrid Institute of Architects COAM 2018 Prize.
